David Lee Holcomb was born to military parents in Montgomery, Alabama, during the early years of the civil rights movement, and grew up in a small town in the Appalachian foothills. He spent his adult career working in the television news industry in Birmingham, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, and Dallas. In 2009, he moved to rural northwest Arkansas where he now writes, paints, teaches art, raises orchids, and plays the saxophone.
