Reading helps us understand more about ourselves and the experiences of others. It helps us escape, empathize, explore, and grow. Through reading, we learn to be our best selves, create our best lives, and better care for those around us, regardless of circumstance, and that certainly seems worthwhile.

Devon Rohana works for the Free Library of Philadelphia, where she runs a citywide early literacy initiative for educators. She has an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Hamline University. Children are her favorite people, and Mister in the Stars is her picture book debut.
Kristin L. Gray is the author of middle grade novels Vilonia Beebe Takes Charge, The Amelia Six, and Murder at Penguin Ranch. Kristin is also the author of two picture books: Koala Is Not a Bear, illustrated by Rachel McAlister, and Rover Throws a Party, illustrated by Scott Magoon. A fan of mysteries and science, she adores writing twisty, fact-filled books for curious kids. Gray lives in northwest Arkansas and hopes to return to Antarctica one day.
